According to a statement, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed at the Danish Business Expo on Monday, 2 November, in Johannesburg by Prince Frederik of Denmark, the Danish Minister for Environment and Food, Eva Kjer Hansen, and SA’s minister for water and sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane.
According to Danish Ambassador Trine Rask Thygesen, the partnership will make it possible for private sector companies in both countries to provide solutions for water resource management.
The agreement between Denmark and South Africa will include integrated water resources management, water treatment technologies and management, water and resource efficiency, groundwater protection and management, water governance and science, as well as capacity building and institutional strengthening.
The MoU will formalise existing longstanding relationships with Denmark which have seen numerous Danish companies operating in South Africa for many years.
