“These funds allow the VKB/FSA Safety Desk personnel to keep track of crimes pertaining to the agriculture sector. This is an invaluable service in our ongoing fight to add to rural safety and security,” said FSA CEO Henk Vermeulen.

The FSA Safety Desk keeps detailed statistics about all incidents that affect the province’s farming communities, from stock theft to farm attacks. According to the FSA, a total of 14 farm attacks and one murder have been reported in the province since so far this year. Statistics show that most incidents occur on a Thursday and Friday.

“With this sponsorship we want to acknowledge and give credit to farmers, as primary food producers, for the role they fulfil in the lives of every person in SA,” said VKB marketing manager Jan van der Walt.
