2012 NAMAQUA - Flower Beach Camp - Open for bookings
Gabrielle Venter, Manager: Media and Stakeholder Relations

Following a successful Flower Beach Camp hosted last year in the Namaqua National Park, the South African National Parks (SANParks) announced the bookings for the 2012 beach camp as open.

SANParks General Manager: Sales and Marketing, Bheki Zwane, said “this unique offering, was introduced as part of SANParks product diversification as well as a response to the demand from the consumers for such a product in the Namaqua area during the flowers season”.

He said this temporary Flower Beach Camp which is now an annual event serves as way for people to experience the splashes of vibrant colours along the rocky coast that Namaqualand is renowned for. According to Zwane, “the camp will be accessible by normal sedan only up to where the camp is located”. For those people who wish to further explore Namaqua National Park beyond the camp a 4x4 vehicle is strictly required.

Zwane said for a single tented accommodation visitors will be expected to pay R2 015, while double accommodation will cost R3 100 per night. Family tents that can accommodate four people are also available at R1 550 per person per night sharing. The Flowers Beach Camp will operate from 15 August to 16 September 2012.Quoted rates include accommodation, brunch, high tea and dinner. All drinks, transfers and activities are excluded.

Activities range from walking along the coastline searching for seals, dolphins, whales, meerkats and other wildlife to exploring the park in 4x4 vehicles. Anyone wishing to participate in the Flowers Beach Camp should book through the SANParks Central Reservations on 012 428 9111 or e-mail reservations@sanparks.org.
