Highest (bull): R46 000
Rustenburg – The Mazél Bonsmara Production Auction of Adv Gerhard Strydom was held on 21 June at Leeuwpoort, Magaliesburg. The most expensive bull (GJS 08 0059) of Gerhard Strydom (Mazél Bonsmara) sold for R46 000 to Marthinus Barnard of Marikana. The second highest price of R45 000 was paid for two bulls both from the Mazél camp of which GJS 08 0038 sold to Dirk Verbeek of Nylstroom and GJS 08 0068 to Allan McGill of Dwaalboom.
The Mazél bulls sold for an average price of R28 736 and the overall average was R27 100. The most expensive pregnant heifer (RRR 09 007) of Alpier Farming was sold for R17 000 to Hendrik Brits of Green Hills. Cows sold for an average of R10 098 and the most expensive cow sold for R16 000 to Tony Nagel of Magaliesburg. Cows with calves averaged R12 912.
The auction was hosted by Vleissentraal Ermelo with Mike Killassy as the auctioneer.
