Highest (ram): R31 000

Graaff-Reinet – Charmac Merinos, of the McNaughton family, held a sale on Houdconstant on 23 August. All but one of the 57 rams on offer sold for an average price of R5 300. This is R1 200 down on the corresponding sale last year. Gideon Buhrmann of Ermelo paid a season high price to date of R31 000 for a silver merit BLUP ram. Other top prices were paid by Vredelust Boerdery of Koue Bokkeveld (R17 000 and R12 000). Deon Gouws of Jansenville, a regular buyer, paid R16 000 for a ram.
