In its many plants around the world, Great Wall Motors has always made research and development a high priority. It’s an approach that has produced cutting-edge innovation – and nowhere more so than in the development of the 4D20 turbo diesel engine. In 2010, this was the only diesel engine to be selected as one of China’s Top 10 engines in the Chinese Hearts Awards, prestigious recognition of advancements in technology.
A greener, quieter and more energy-efficient diesel engine, the four-cylinder 4D20 engine meets Euro 4 emission standards. It features dual overhead camshafts, high-pressure common rail, variable geometry turbocharger (VGT), NVH noise control, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and an automatic valve clearance compensator.
The 4D20 turbo diesel engine gives the Steed 5 2.0VGT Double Cab plenty of power, with a maximum output of 110kW at
4 000rpm, and a torque of 310Nm at 1 800rpm to 2 800rpm. This is similar power output to the 3.0l engine of the same class. What’s more, the engine delivers this power optimally via a six-gear manual gearbox. Range, too, is well taken care of, thanks to a 70l tank.
With its leather seats, air-conditioning and many electronic controls, the interior offers superb comfort.
Tough, yet handsome
With its sporty, yet businesslike grill and bodywork, the Steed 5 2.0VGT Double Cab is perfectly styled for recreation and rough farm work. And that ruggedness isn’t just skin-deep: a double insulated load bin protects this area from heavy loads and hard knocks, while front and rear mud flaps guard against wear and tear on rough farm roads. Sixteen-inch alloy aluminium wheels offer sure-footed, safe handling.
The interior boasts all the comfort features you’d expect in a luxury sedan.
