Jennifer and Jeffrey contacted me from Kenya. After more than 30 pages of back and forth emailing of conceptualisation of their home, this sketch was the final outcome.
Essential to the layout was the aspect of orientation to the views: Mount Kenya to the north-west and the Aberdare mountains to the north-east. The wrap-around veranda would complement the viewing aspect, while the kitchen and outdoor area to the west would complement the sundowners after a busy day.
The garages are not shown on the perspective, but will be included in the final drawings, and as always will be adjacent to the kitchen for offloading groceries, etc. The style will complement the natural surroundings, with cedar tree posts for the verandas and open beam living room area ceilings, from an avenue of cedar trees on the property. The roof will be of fibre cement slate tiles, and also of a dark grey colour, which would also fit in with the surroundings.
