The KZN police reported in a statement that Nkosingiphile Emmanual Nkosi was found guilty of housebreaking with the intent to commit rape and robbery with aggravated circumstances.

Nkosi’s conviction followed an incident on 14 February, 2014, on a farm in the Elandslaagte area of the province.

He approached the farmhouse, asking to hire a truck from the farmer. Only the farmer’s wife was present at the time and she asked Nkosi to return the following day to speak to the farmer. Nkosi then asked for something to eat. This was provided by the farmer’s wife through the farmhouse’s burglar gate.

Nkosi then pretended to leave and walked around the house and broke in through a back window, catching the elderly woman by surprise. “He raped the woman, then robbed her of her cellphone, a bottle of pepper spray and a small amount of cash,” said KZN police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane in a statement.

KZN Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni reportedly commended the police officers involved for their “good work” in finally securing Nkosi’s conviction.
