Grobler started full-time farming in 2011 with his wife, Juanita, on the farm Uitkyk near Dewetsdorp. He produces broilers, cattle and pigs.

According to a statement by Free State Agriculture, Grobler divides his risk in his enterprise into two categories. Firstly, sustainability risks, which include land rights, sustainable water supply and energy costs. Secondly, operational risks, where he focuses on natural disasters, access to finance as well as good labour practices.

Grobler’s future plans include an extra four broiler houses over five years, if the market allows it. He also wants to develop his pig division to slaughter 60 to 100 pigs per week within the next 48 months.

Further value adding is also planned by developing working facilities on the farm so that he can deliver products to clients, not just carcasses. The cattle division will focus on the standard of calves to be delivered for slaughter or at feedlots, depending on the market.
