Marcel’s Frozen Yoghurt was awarded the title at the DuPont Qualité Awards Dinner in Cape Town last night for its Woolworth’s Tropical Fruit Frozen Yoghurt.

“It is the first time since the inception of the Qualité Awards in 2001 that a frozen yoghurt achieved this accolade”, said Johan Ehlers, CEO of Agri-Expo, organisers of the SA Dairy Championships, in a statement.

What made the award even more special was that “it was achieved in a year with a record number of 879 entries from 80 producers,” said Ehlers.

To round off the week’s dairy celebrations, a large variety of dairy products from large-scale commercial producers to small-scale artisanal producers countrywide will be on show this weekend at the SA Cheese Festival.

Agri-Expo, organiser of the festival, said it expected more than 30 000 people and 130 exhibitors to attend the three-day event, from 25 to 27 April, at Sandringham in Stellenbosch.
