This is a gain of 12% on the previous auction, held at the end of October.

Cape Mohair and Wool’s mohair manager Pierre van der Vyver said in a statement that local products were more attractive as a result of the weak rand. However, this was not the main reason for the sterling performance of local mohair.

European and Asian markets had also renewed interest in mohair, catching processors off guard this late in the season.
