McCain to assist farmers with feed

McCain SA has decided to redirect all of its edible waste to livestock farmers in drought affected areas.

The waste can be used as essential livestock feed, said Deolinda Da Costa, marketing manager at McCain, in a press release.

McCain feels the effect of the drought directly as they are currently struggling to purchase quality crops in the quantities that they need, said Da Costa.

The emergency feed consists of raw material waste generated during McCain’s daily activities, as well as damages and returns from customers.

McCain is partnering with SA Zero Waste, who will transport the supplies, and Farmers In Need/Boere In Nood, who will direct waste to areas in greatest need.
