New Holland SA (Stand 52)
New Holland South Africa (NHSA) has been actively involved in the war against rhino poaching. This year, to raise funds for a rhino orphanage in Limpopo, it is organising a road trip from Cape Town to Entabeni Lodge outside Modimolle with a New Holland TD5 towing a trailer carrying a life-size model of a rhino. The tractor will be on display at Nampo. Follow the big white balloon to the NHSA stand, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee with Ferdinand Rabie, who’s supporting the project, along with several sponsors.
New tractors:
- These include the much-anticipated TD75F 2WD orchard tractor, as well as the new 104kW TS6.140 planter tractor.
New combines:
- Along with the new CX 5090 combine suitable for the smaller farmer, the high capacity CR8070 and CR9080 twin rotor combines as well as the new ‘varifeed’ wheat headers will be on display. The distance between the auger and the knife is adjustable on these for the best performance in any yield.
Stihl (Stand 152B)
World-leading power tool manufacturer Stihl will turn heads at this year’s Nampo Harvest Day with a brand new mobile show stand that showcases the vast range of its high performance German-engineered tools, from its legendary chainsaws, to backpack mistblowers, augers, axes, pole pruners, edgers, high pressure cleaners and more. An experienced team will be on hand to answer your queries and find the right products for your individual needs. There will also be a range of unique festival deals on offer.
Greenfields Agricultural Holdings (Stand 111)
The JCB 2DX tractor-loader backhoe is claimed to be an ideal tool for the larger farm as it can be used for materials handling as well as for trenching in irrigation and drainage projects. It’s also useful for building jobs and for clearing bush, vineyards or small trees. Competitively priced, it’s powered by a 4-cylinder 3,2l engine rated at 37kW.
Eqstra Industrial Equipment (Stands 204 & 207)
Eqstra Industrial Equipment provides full maintenance lease and rental as well as value added services for industrial, agricultural and materials handling equipment. Part of this division is Eqstra Agricultural Equipment, the sole distributor of Same and Deutz-Fahr tractors and combine harvesters for sub-Saharan Africa. This year Eqstra will be exhibiting the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron X720 and Same Tiger 80.4 tractors, as well as Standen Pearson potato planting and harvesting implements.
Then there’s the new Combi-RT, specifically designed for the poultry sector. Fitted with a clear view three-stage mast with full free lift, the RT’s low profile allows it to work both inside and outside a poultry house. Having picked the empty modules from the trailer, the operator can then lower the mast without any loss of speed to take them directly to the waiting catchers, with no danger of the module collecting litter on its base as it travels through the poultry house.
Barloworld Agriculture (Stands 76 & 77)
The MF 7600 series: This consolidates Massey Ferguson’s 6400 and 7400 series. The 103kW MF 7615, 121kW MF 7618 and 125kW MF 7619 come with a 24X24 Dyna-6 semi-powershift transmission, and the 136kW MF 7620 and 162kW MF 7624 with either Dyna-6 or the Fendt-designed Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission found in the MF 8600 series. Other features include a lifting capacity of up to 9,3t and a cab with a similar layout to the MF 8600 series. Service intervals have been increased by 25% to 500 hours, reducing maintenance costs.
The Challenger D series: Nampo also sees the debut of Challenger’s new D series tracked tractors with the launch of the MT 765D. The latest generation Agco Sisu Power engines enable the 261kW MT 765D to deliver 23kW more power than its predecessor, while improving the Challenger’s already impressive fuel economy by up to 10%. The unique Mobil-Trac system delivers superior traction and low compaction, providing outstanding performance while protecting the soil.
The CLAAS Axion 900 series: With a maximum rated output of 302kW, the CLAAS Axion 950 is the world’s first tractor on a conventional rigid chassis to break the 300kW barrier. It is powered by a 6-cylinder 8,7l FPT engine and features a continuously variable CMATIC transmission and a wealth of intelligent systems and fuel-saving technology. It weighs in at 13t without ballast and has a lifting capacity of 11,25t at the back and 6,5t in front. A 3,15m wheelbase and 50/50 weight distribution ensure the efficient transfer of power to the ground, saving fuel and reducing soil compaction.
Agrico (Stands 60 & 61)
Agrico will be launching a new range of Eurospand spreaders at Nampo. These include a double disc spreader for normal field spreading. This has border and left/right control and can spread up to 32m. Capacity ranges from 1 600l to 3 200l. There’s also a double disc spreader for orchards and vineyards that can apply fertiliser on the rows, or on the full surface with left/right control and a spreading width of up to 18m. Capacity is from 600l to 1 000l.
The double disc models incorporate the unique Vibro system to keep material flowing without grinding it up, as happens with a beater shaft. They are also equipped with stainless steel filtering grids, and there are no flat surfaces on which fertiliser can accumulate and cause rust. The Eurospand 503 (below), meanwhile, is a budget-priced single disc spreader suitable for smallholdings and has a capacity of 360l.
Peake Equipment (Stand 201)
The new high ground clearance YTO Sprayer is another innovative idea from Peake Equipment aimed at helping farmers to spray their crops more effectively. Based on the YTO X904 tractor, it is powered by a 66,5kW 4-cylinder, direct injection, water-cooled diesel engine. It has a 305mm double action clutch, 12 forward and four reverse gears and a heavy-duty rear chain drive. Features include independent 4-wheel ‘AirRide’ suspension; under-chassis ground clearance of 1,8m; a front mounted ‘always visible’ 18m to 22m spray boom; 1 800l 3CR12 spray tanks; and air-conditioned cab.
