Burgersdorp – Harm and Alwyn Marx held their production sale on their farm Essex near Burgersdorp on 20 May. The highest-priced bull (AM 12 0022) was sold for R140 000. The average price for bulls was R41 535. The highest-prices paid were R18 000 for an open heifer, R18 500 for an in-calf heifer, and R24 000 for a cow with calf at foot. Open stud heifers sold for an average price of R9 387, in-calf stud heifers averaged R11 600 and stud cows with calves averaged R11 882.
