In a statement, Agri SA’s executive director Omri van Zyl, appealed to the public to support the initiative. To date R86 750 in cash donations as well as 44 000kg feed has been received.

The prevailing drought, accompanied by high temperatures, is one of the worst natural disasters in the past 20 years. The drought will have a detrimental impact on the economic survival of many farmers. In the short-term rural communities, specifically farmer and farmworker families, are at risk of suffering food shortages.
