Public comments invited on invasive species regulations

The Department of Water and Environmental Affairs has given interested and affected parties 30 days to comment on sections of the National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act 10 of 2004.

The regulations in these sections relate to a variety of alien and listed invasive species, including trout, carp and bass, and their management.

The national commercial trout production and tourism industries have repeatedly expressed concerns over the implications of these regulations for their sustainability.
