Rotary Club honours SACTA’s community contribution

At the Rotary Club of Pretoria Capital’s Service Awards ceremony held on 26 August, members honoured local heroes, including the South African Cultivar and Technology Agency (SACTA).

Accepting a Rotary Partners in Service Award was Andrew Bennett, CEO of SACTA. The agency received the accolade for its support of the Rotary District 9400 Dignity Toilets initiative over the past two years, contributing R2,5 million to the project.

Mariana Purnell, president of the Rotary Club of Pretoria Capital, hands the Rotary Partners in Service Award to Sandile Mahlangu, transformation manager at the South African Cultivar and Technology Agency.

In the other two categories, the following awards were presented:

  • A Vocational Service Award was given to Aris Ruyter in recognition of his outstanding and selfless service in keeping local neighbourhoods safe.
  • A Community Service Award was given to Helen Alpino Eleni for going above and beyond to uplift and keep local communities informed.
