The 2015 Farm Worker of the Year competition gala event, co-sponsored by the Western Cape department of agriculture and Shoprite, will be held at Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl on 7 November. The provincial winner will be chosen from among the eight regional winners from the Langeberg, Swartland, Elgin and Grabouw, Central Karoo, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Piket-Bo-Berg, and Berg River regions.

Cornel Paulse (52) is a regional winner for the Franschhoek region. He is a junior manager at Glenwood Vineyards.

“I’m hoping for the best at the national awards ceremony,” he told Farmer’s Weekly, adding he would invest the cash prize in a co-operative should he win.
