With less than two days remaining of the 57th Nampo Harvest Day, a total of 42 090 visitors have already passed through the gates at Nampo Park.
Dr Dirk Strydom, managing director of Nampo at Grain SA, described the first two days of the event as a resounding success.
“The second day is always a popular one, and the attendance figures reflect that,” he noted. On Wednesday alone, 24 090 people attended.
It wasn’t just motorists queuing to get into the expansive parking lots, which can accommodate up to 30 000 vehicles, but the airfield also saw significant traffic.
“No fewer than 109 aircraft and 19 helicopters landed at the Nampo airfield on Wednesday,” said Strydom.
He added that the agricultural trade show further cemented its status as a premier industry platform when President Cyril Ramaphosa, accompanied by his farm manager, attended on Tuesday.
Several other key political figures were expected to visit in the coming days, including Deputy President Paul Mashatile, Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen, and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure Dean Macpherson.
Strydom believes their attendance presented valuable opportunities to strengthen collaboration and identify practical solutions for the agriculture sector.
