“The accident scene was not a pleasant site – live sheep on top and between dead sheep, with severely broken legs, jaws and other injuries. Our Inspectors had to emergency destroy a large amount of sheep due to the severity of their injuries and to end their suffering,” the SPCA Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark’ posted on its Facebook page.

The truck driver escaped injuries, while the uninjured sheep were transported to their end destination.

The SPCA in Vereeniging has threatened to take legal action against the owners and the company for leaving the animals to suffer.
