Celebrate International Earth Day

Communities are urged to plant trees as part of celebrations for international Earth Day on 22 April.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), this year’s theme is ‘Trees for the Earth’ and the aim is to plant 7,8 billion trees over the next five years.

This day is an acknowledgement that the earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and sustenance.

Its mission is to broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide in order to build a healthy, sustainable environment, address climate change, and protect the earth for future generations.
