Dekalb celebrates 100 years

Monsanto’s Dekalb maize has reached the 100 year mark, making it one of the oldest agricultural products in South Africa.

Dekalb was founded in 1912 by a group of innovative farmers, bankers and county officials who set out to raise the bar on maize yields in Illinois in the United States. Today the trade mark is registered in more than 100 countries worldwide. Monsanto is the market leader in SA with 30 000t of seed sold and 2.6 million hectares planted to Dekalb seed during the last season.
