Free State Agriculture (FSA) had committed itself to sustainable land reform as early as 2006.

But despite this, FSA and its members are being accused of stealing land. This was according to FSA President Dan Kriek at the 2014 FSA Congress in Bloemfontein on Wednesday (6 August).

“I have not stolen any land. My right to own land is protected in the South African Constitution,” he said.

“People who insist on spreading the message that we have stolen land are playing a dangerous game which could cause serious problems in future.”

The issue of land reform and economic development will not be solved by a farm for everyone, but rather by the creation of jobs for everyone, said Kriek.

“The motivation for land reform should not be the redistribution of land but the creation of economic growth.”
