The KZN SAPS reported that tireless work by a team of Newcastle detectives led to the arrests of the, as yet unnamed, murder suspects within 48 hours of the murder.

According to KZN SAPS spokesperson Col Vincent Mdunge, Green was allegedly attacked and killed at about 7 pm on 11 August on Willow Green Farm, where he lived alone. He reportedly died at the scene of the crime as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and legs.

“The arrested suspects, between the ages of 25 and 34, will be charged with murder, housebreaking and theft, and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” said Mdunge. “One was arrested where he was hiding near a coal mine, another was arrested next to the Ekuseni area, and the last one was found in the vicinity of Green’s farm.”
