In less than two months, a second elephant has been poached for its tusks in Parfuri, northern Kruger National Park as the park celebrated World Ranger Day.

According to the Conservation Action Trust website, SANParks officials made the gruesome discovery of a two-day- old carcass with its tusks chopped off on Wednesday morning, July 30.

“Elephant poaching has been happening for a while now in Mozambique and Zimbabwe, so we did expect that it would at some stage reach our area,” said SANparks spokesperson William Mabasa.
