Speaking at the TAU SA Young Farmer Congress, the organisation’s president, Louis Meintjes, said the minister said this was the first time ever that an agricultural union approached her not just with criticism, but also with concrete plans on improving agriculture in the country.

He said TAU SA also met with DAFF’s training division on obtaining accreditation through AgriSETA. The centre will focus on combining academic courses with practical skills. Courses would vary from very basic for the illiterate to semi-literate to more advanced courses for those who are already farming.
