Speaking to Farmer’s Weekly, Jaco du Preez, New Holland marketing manager for Southern Africa, said the range is designed to handle a wide variety of specialised farming applications while prioritising manoeuvrability, comfort, and ease of use.
The range includes models from the T4.80F S to the T4.110F S. The entry-level T4.80F S is powered by an FPT Industrial S8000 three-cylinder 2,9ℓ Stage V engine delivering 75hp (about 55kW) and about 341Nm of torque at 1 400rpm.
The larger models feature a four-cylinder 3,6ℓ F5C engine, with outputs ranging from 86hp (63kW) and 351Nm of torque in the T4.90F S to 99hp (73kW) and 407Nm of torque in the T4.100F S and 110hp (82kW) and 490Nm of torque in the flagship T4.110F S.
According to Du Preez, the tractors were developed specifically for specialist crop environments where compact dimensions, visibility, and versatility are essential.
Variable solutions
A low-hood design improves operator visibility while increasing manoeuvrability and overall ease of operation in confined orchard and vineyard conditions.
The T4.80F S is available in two-wheel drive, with the axle measuring 1 382mm flange to flange, or four-wheel drive configurations. The larger models are offered exclusively in four-wheel drive, with customers able to choose between narrow (1 155mm flange to flange), F orchard (1 265mm), and SuperSteer (1 271mm) front axle configurations, depending on their row spacing and operational requirements.
New Holland offers two main transmission options on the T4F S range: a Synchro Shuttle and a Powershuttle, both available in 12×12 or 20×20 creeper configurations.
Both transmissions feature four synchromesh gears within each configuration for smoother shifting on the move, allowing operators to better match working speeds to highly variable specialist crop conditions such as orchards, vineyards, and vegetable production.
“Selecting the correct operating speed is critical in these applications, particularly when working with implements such as sprayers or harvest-assist equipment where precision and consistency directly affect performance,” Du Preez said.
The tractors offer transport speeds of up to 40km/h, while the creeper option allows working speeds of as low as 140m/h for specialised low-speed applications.
The optional Park Lock system on Powershuttle models improves safety when operating on steep terrain.
Hydraulics and lift capacity
The tractors are equipped with a rear linkage system featuring two external lift cylinders and a lifting capacity of up to 2 800kg, allowing them to handle a wide range of rear-mounted implements.
The rear linkage can be configured for both Category 1 and Category 2 implements, while New Holland’s Lift-O-Matic system makes it easier to lift and lower implements during headland turns.
Comfort and safety
New Holland also focused heavily on operator comfort in the redesigned cab.
The tractors feature a flat-deck cab design with suspended brake and clutch pedals to improve accessibility and increase legroom.
Controls have been positioned ergonomically, with key operating functions such as hydraulic remotes, engine speed controls, and Lift-O-Matic controls grouped on the right-hand armrest for easier control.
Additional electrical sockets and USB connectivity improve implement compatibility and convenience.
For spraying applications, the optional Blue Cab filtration system provides additional operator protection through a double-filtration setup designed to reduce chemical exposure during spraying operations.
