EurepGAP launched the third version of its Good Agricultural Practice Standard at this year’s Fruit Logistica Fruit and Vegetable fair in Berlin, Germany.

In a major step, the 2007 version has harmonised its criteria for food safety and environmental and worker protection across major product areas. a media statement Kristian Moeller, EurepGAP secretary, said new to this version is that all agricultural products have been integrated into a single farm audit. For crop production, integrated pest management has a much stronger emphasis in the 2007 version, with a focus on showing commitment to such practices.

From 1 March producers can register for version 3 of the Integrated Farm Assurance Standard and receive certification. The transition period allowing parallel audits to the existing and the new version will end in December 2007. – Wilma den Hartigh
