LEMKEN has kicked off Nampo Harvest Day this year with a bang with the launch of its new tine weed harrow, Thulit.
The Thulit has a unique design with four bars and eight rows, comprising a total of 390 tines. This design ensures an “exceptionally stable frame”, according to LEMKEN.
The tines are arranged asymmetrically, with a line spacing of 31,25mm. This ensures that the Thulit works without blockage, even when handling large amounts of organic matter.
“The optimised ratio of this line spacing to the 575mm tine length ensures maximum effectiveness in weed control,” LEMKEN said.
The Thulit is equipped with the OptiTine hydraulic system, which ensures that the individual tines always work with exactly the same tine pressure at every occasion, regardless of working conditions.
“The adjustment options for the tine pressure range from 100g to a maximum contact force of 5 000g per tine,” said LEMKEN.
With robust 8mm diameter tines to transfer force to the soil, the tines also have sufficient lateral stability to remove weeds reliably, regardless of soil type or working conditions.
One of the particularly unique features of the Thulit is its underframe clearance of 450mm, a first on the South African market, and the absence of springs and other sharp-edged components under the frame. This means that the Thulit can be utilised on ridge crops and crops in late growth stages.
“The Thulit weed harrow extends the time window for mechanical weed control and comes into its own where hoeing technology reaches its limits.
“When used in combination, weed harrows and hoeing machines help to achieve weed-free crops without using chemical crop care products.”
According to LEMKEN, this implement is best suited for maize and wheat.
