
Organised by the SaferStops Association, in collaboration with 23 public and private sector partners, the symposium brings together truck manufacturers, fleet operators, drivers, and industry leaders for two days of knowledge-sharing and networking.
The event features a strong emphasis on professional and personal well-being, with 15 specialised workshops targeting numerous topics impacting the daily lives of drivers, fleet managers, and driver trainers.
There will also be technical presentations from leading manufacturers, including Isuzu, Hino, Iveco, MAN, Volvo, and UD Trucks, as well as exhibitors showcasing innovative solutions and services.
A comprehensive programme
The Symposium is supported by key industry players across the South African banking, insurance, transport, freight and petroleum industries and others. The programme includes:
- Professional well-being workshops
Participants will be guided on financial wellness through sessions on banking, debt management, the Consumer Protection Act and Code of Banking Practice, safeguarding against banking scams and phishing, as well as debit order management. - Life skills workshops
Living with Confidence workshops focus on drafting Last Wills and Testaments. - Personal well-being workshops
Key topics include work-life balance, an essential but often neglected aspect of a truck driver’s life, strategies for building mental health resilience, physical wellness management, and practical advice on maintaining health and well-being in the context of long-haul driving.The SaferStops Association will also share its initiatives aimed at improving driver well-being through better infrastructure and support systems.
- Safety sessions
Driver safety is addressed in a session titled “Delivering Cargo Safely and Responsibly: How to stay safe on the road”. Additionally, the programme includes a speaking slot on the scourge of human trafficking and its impact on the victims, their families, communities and the organisations in which employees are caught engaging in this activity.
