Anonymous protesters set vineyards ablaze

Protesters set fire to at least 15 vineyards in De Doorns in the Western Cape this week causing widespread damage, just as the table grape season kicks off.

The protest appears to be politically motivated as no one has come forward to claim responsibility or make any demands.  Porchia Adams, spokesperson for Agri Western Cape, said that figures regarding the amount of protesters varied drastically from 300 to 5 000. “I don’t know who is actually counting. At this stage it is just masses of people running around burning stuff.”
