Farm worker wage increase set for March

The department of labour has announced an increase to the minimum wages for farm workers as of 1 March.

According to a statement released by the department, farm workers will earn a minimum wage of R2 778,83/month, an increase of R172,05 from R2 606,78, a weekly minimum wage of R641,32, a daily rate of R128,26 for a nine-hour work day and an hourly rate of R14,25.

Farmers are encouraged to seek guidance from their relevant associations on how to apply for variations.
