Speaking to Farmer’s Weekly, De Jager said that the biggest challenges he expected to face as WFO president was the extension of networks to regions, such as Eastern Europe, Indo-Asia, West Africa and the Middle East, where agricultural organisations were still largely uninvolved, and the “refining of management systems, internal regulations, communication and policy, and the implementation of the new WFOP strategies”.
De Jager was previously president of the Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU), and led transformation initiatives at Agri Limpopo.
He was also deputy president of Agri SA, and president of the Pan African Farmers’ Organisation.
