Not everyone in the industry may realise, however, that Agrico is one of South Africa’s foremost manufacturers of quality PVC piping.

With more than 30 years’ experience, Agrico provides PVC piping for a host of applications in agriculture and other industries.

Here are eight standout features of Agrico PVC piping:

  1. Entire PVC piping range manufactured on site

Agrico manufactures its PVC pipes in its large-scale production facility in Bellville, Cape Town. The company produces and sells more than 2 000km of PVC piping annually.

2. The full range of PVC-M and PVC-U pressure pipes

Agrico currently manufactures PVC pressure pipes with diameters ranging from 20mm up to 500mm and with operating pressures ranging from 400kPa up to 2,5MPa. The company’s IsoFlo range of PVC-U (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) piping is economical, durable, corrosion-free, and easy to install. It’s widely used in a variety of agricultural and industrial applications.

The IsoTuff range of PVC-M piping (modified PVC) is manufactured by combining PVC with a toughness-enhancing agent, making it resistant to impacts and shocks and providing a saving in material. Agrico S&D (sewage and drainage) piping, known as Isodrain, is the latest addition to the company’s PVC family. It is used underground in non-pressure applications for the conveyance of sewage and drain water.

3. Supplier of other types of piping

Agrico supplies an extensive range of piping for seamless transportation, and can offer the correct type of piping for any application, in the diameter and pressure class required. Agrico supplies the full range of uPVC and mPVC piping in all standard diameters (from 20mm all the way up to 630mm) and pressure classes (from class 4 up to class 20). In addition to PVC piping, the company manufactures high-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping, low-density polyethylene (LDPE) piping, rubber and plastic hoses, flanged, and quick-coupling galvanised steel pipes.

4. All Agrico PVC pipes SANS-certified

All Agrico PVC piping products are certified by the South African Technical Auditing Services (SATAS) to comply with the respective SANS-standards. Agrico’s IsoFlo, IsoTuff, and IsoDrain pipes conform to the SANS 966-1, SANS 966-2, and SANS 791 standards, respectively, and are certified as such. This means that Agrico piping is compliant with SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) standards, guaranteeing top-quality pipes.

5. More than irrigation

Thanks to its strength, durability, and resistance to chemicals and corrosion, Agrico PVC piping is ideal for consumer, commercial, and industrial applications in a variety of market sectors. It is used, for example, in irrigation systems, industrial piping applications, main water supply lines and household plumbing, as well as for industrial chemicals and sewage transportation and waste.

6. Improved colour of PVC piping

In order to better address the needs of various markets, Agrico PVC-U pipes have undergone a colour change to the industry-standard blue. Industry-standard colours are based on the contents of the pipe and provide consistency and clarity across different industries, helping users to identify products easily while improving the aesthetics of the piping. These colours also allow for easy storage and retrieval in the warehouse.

7. Countrywide delivery

Agrico carries extensive stock of high-quality PVC pipes ready for sale and delivery, and uses its large vehicle fleet to transport products across the continent to buyers, middlemen and large firms. With branches across Southern Africa, Agrico stocks an extensive range of parts and PVC pipes to serve small- and large-scale producers. Its knowledgeable teams can provide the correct type of piping for any application, balancing upfront costs with energy expenditure to ensure the most cost-effective choice for an irrigation system.

8. Competitive prices

Agrico offers competitive pricing for its PVC piping, which remains affordable compared with other piping options despite a recent increase in cost. The company achieves this through in-house manufacturing, an extensive inventory, and an integrated supply chain, ensuring that customers receive reliable and cost-effective solutions.
