Hi Mike,
Thanks for the phone call and further details on e-mail. The layout of your house was quite easy to do, but the mix of modern and traditional was a bit puzzling. There are so many possible options. As you’re going to have rondavels on either side of the house, the roofing for these should be thatch, as is traditional.

I’ve also given the main house a thatched roof. The combination of modern and traditional is evident in the painted design of the wall. This should be done in earthy colours, but you’d know better which design is more traditional in Port St Johns. I’ve kept the building long and narrow to fit across your excavated site. But you’ll need to e-mail me a photo of the site, so I can place the house and rondavels and also see if you need a retaining wall, and how high this would need to be.

For the benefit of our readers, this is a very practical layout with many options. It can be reduced proportionally to fewer square metres and any other roofing material can be used.
Regards,
Jonno
