Th e Agricultural Business Chamber (ABC)/Industrial Development Corporation Confidence Index for the first quarter of 2007 recorded a 23,9% increase compared with the same quarter in 2006.
Lindie Botha, ABC manager of economic intelligence and finance, said seven out of 10 factors used to compile the index show positive trends, with the strongest drivers being the expected increases in turnover, net operating income and market share of agribusiness. CEO of the Dr Tobias Doyer said that in 2007, relative to the past two years, agribusinesses clearly experienced positive trends in terms of production volume, product prices and exports. – Wilma den Hartigh
