Morise Boutes, marketing head of Tonnellerie Boutes which produces the barrels, told decanter.com the barrels were insured and the company plans to ship replacement barrels within a few weeks.

“You can’t replace 168 handmade barrels overnight and by the nature of the business, timing is essential,” said Andre Morgenthal of Wines of SA. “The harvesting season is in full swing and producers need equipment and barrels in time as the winemaking process cannot be placed on hold.” – Glenneis Erasmus
