The QM-0423 high-pressure towed sprayer, manufactured by QuadMaster of Merrivale, is hga recent addition to the range of quad bike equipment. The sprayer has a 500ℓ removable poly tank and a high-pressure diaphragm pump, powered by a Briggs & Stratton 4,9kW four-stroke engine. It comes complete with suction filter, a 50m-reel of pressure hose and a pressure lance for misting or full flow. One outstanding feature is its tandem-axle walking-beam suspension, giving it “go-anywhere” capability and making it ideal as a firefighting unit or as a tender when burning firebreaks.
An optional 4m rear-mounted spray boom is available, which equips it for spraying in orchards, nurseries or tunnels. And because it’s 1,25m high, it can operate in confined spaces, such as for disinfecting poultry houses. A quad bike in camo The new Hawk Okavango 500cc Utility 4×4 Quad is ideal for towing equipment such as the QuadMaster tanker in firefighting modehg. With the 500cc engine, its towing capacity exceeds 500kg, even while carrying a driver and passenger. At R46 000 for a single seater and R48 000 for a double seater (excl VAT), it’s probably the cheapest 500cc quad on the market, doubling as a workhorse and recreational vehicle. Big John Clothing of Howick has created a range of camouflaged gear for hunters, including covers for quad bike carrier racks, trailers and even crash helmets. The silver wheels spoil the effect in the photos but black wheels are available to match the matte black quad and trailer. – Joe Spencer
