FarmSol has managed to unlock further funding for the purchase of a harvesting machine to bolster the initial investment made.
This machine will be used for the harvesting of barley, soya beans, maize and other crops that farmers cultivate, ensuring that sustainable farming enterprises are established in rural areas.
The mechanisation handover will take place in Taung on 22 February. The date coincides with the one-year anniversary of the last mechanisation handover, and the event will showcase the overall progress that the farmers have made since the initial investment was made.
FarmSol is also partnering with Farmer’s Weekly, and will host a panel discussion with the theme ‘Unlocking the potential of small rural towns as frontiers of agricultural development and growth‘.
Among the panellists will be Mooketsa Ramasodi, director-general of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform; Wandile Sihlobo, chief economist at Agbiz; Aron Kole, CEO of FarmSol Holdings; and Andrew Bennett, CEO of the South African Cultivar Agency.
