Some of the yellow maize crop is harvested as silage and for use as livestock feed.
Bovelder breeding cows are kept in the mountainous area near Memel-Zamani, in the Free State. The Bovelder is a hardy breed developed for optimal fertility and meat production under demanding conditions.
