The KZN Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (KZN DARD) and Old Mutual’s Masisizane Fund recently signed a memorandum of understanding where each would provide 50% of the financial and material resources needed for the development within the Harry Gwala District Municipality.
A KZN DARD statement said the Masisizane Fund would inject up to R26 million into getting the soybean planting and production aspects of the project’s initial stages on the go. The KZN DARD would be allocating 300 tractors, vouchers for implements, running costs and seed, and also offering business monitoring and extension services.
KZN DARD MEC Cyril Xaba urged the project’s beneficiaries to take ownership of it and to seize the opportunities that the project was presenting them with.
