A fraudulent document said to be an ‘Ownership of Certificate’ or ‘Certificate of Ownership’ is doing its rounds in Tanzania, said SADC’s Dr Elsie Meintjies.
The document focusses only on certain imports, including minerals. The SADC logo appears on the document as well as what appears to be a customs stamp.
Meintjies confirmed that the SADC protocol on trade doesn’t require any such certificate for trading in any member state in SADC’s Free Trade Area.
