Challenges for the dairy industry abound as raw milk production increased, while demand decreased, leading to a greater drop in producer prices.

A report on key market signals for the dairy industry, compiled by the South African Milk Producers Organisation (SAMPRO), indicated that while a normal seasonal decline of raw milk prices in the second half of 2012 is expected, a sharper decline is possible due to conditions in the dairy products market.
