Orton King, group executive director of the organisers, the Agri Mega Group, said that they were satisfied with the difference the expo made to the view of agriculture in the homes of consumers. “This year the expo played a very important role in carrying out the message of agriculture for the consumer.”

He said the widespread interest in the opening debate showed that red meat consumer issues were the right choice for farmers, workers and processors as well as the trade regarding the sustainable provision of healthy and affordable food for the country.

Gerrit van Rensburg, minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Western Cape saluted the agricultural community at the expo for their sustainable market orientated production, “through difficult circumstances that often call for crisis management and adjustment.”
