The Gauteng Stock Theft Forum believes it has identified the man at the head of a syndicate that’s targeted stud cattle farmers in the province over the past few months and stolen cattle worth R2,2 million.

Last week footage of the truck allegedly used in most of the stock theft cases around Gauteng was circulated in the media.

With the help of community informants and the Limpopo and North West stock theft units, a farmer from Heidelberg in Gauteng has been linked to the truck. He’s made contact with the police and will report to the police station for questioning.

The truck has since been found and it was determined that all of the 160 head of cattle stolen, with the exception of three skinny animals, were slaughtered.
