Stock thiefs get R6000 bail

The 38-year-old Ronnie Smith and his wife Elbie Smith (35), from the farm Zem-Zem in Bothaville were released on R6000 bail by the Bothaville magistrate’s court after the being arrested for alleged livestock theft.

Police received a tip off regarding suspected stolen sheep, and on investigation found eight sheep at the farm with the tags on their ears were removed said, SAPS spokesperson Capt. Steven Thakeng. Thirteen packets of neatly cut mutton were found as well as three lambs, a freshly sheep skin and a .22 hunting rifle were confiscated. They case has been postponed to 4 September 2012.
