Zulu King’s development bank idea a good one

Zulu King Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu’s proposal for the establishing of a development bank offering loans to farmers and other entrepreneurs on communal Ingonyama Trust lands in KwaZulu-Natal has been welcomed by a range of stakeholders.

Communal farmers have often struggled to secure loans from existing commercial banks because these farmers don’t have land as collateral. However, it was urged that strict controls be put in place to ensure that loans to communal farmers be used only for their intended purposes.
