Since its introduction in 2005, the success of the Falcon side discharge mulcher, and the keen interest and assistance of users has led to some major improvements in the versatility and performance of this unique implement.

Designed initially to pulverise prunings and distribute them sideways under the trees, it was found to be extremely efficient for this operation. However, alterations to the blade configuration and improvements to the control of the chute discharge angle added considerably to the jobs that this simple machine can perform. T he latest design innovations allow it to cut, mulch and discharge very wet ground cover crops, even in the rainy season.
The breakthrough came with the development of the “Paddle Blade”. This blade has a vertical plate at the end, slightly shorter than the cutting and mulching blades; and provides the wind power to effectively blow the moist mulch material out of the chute. he side discharge mulcher can now be used all year round. Fitted with the optional paddle blades it can successfully cut, mulch and discharge crops such as lucerne, grass and millet. It can be configured for general slashing operations or roadside verge cutting. The controlled side discharge feature is an important safety feature when working on public roads. Other improvements A removable chute cover that prevents low-hanging branches hooking on the side chute. This eliminates damage to branches and fruit. The chute is adjustable so the machine is 100mm narrower to work in narrow rows.

The chute discharge angle adjustment permits accurate placement of mulched material. The 1,2m and 1,8m models now have a linkage offset feature permitting closer working under trees. – Joe Spencer Contact Falcon Agricultural Equipment on (033) 330 4764, e-mail [email protected] or visit www.falconequipment.co.za. |fw
