The Genesis T8 series, spanning models from the T8.325 to the T8.440, has been upgraded to better meet the demands of modern farming, with improvements focused on power, efficiency, connectivity, and operator comfort.

Power outputs now range from 195kW to 297kW, roughly 5% more than the previous generation, giving the tractors the muscle needed for demanding tillage, planting, and transport work. However, as with many of the latest tractor developments, the improvements are about far more than simply adding horsepower.

According to Jaco du Preez, New Holland marketing manager for Southern Africa, the T8 range combines this extra power with either the fully synchronised Ultra Command powershift transmission or the Auto Command continuously variable transmission (CVT), allowing farmers to choose the setup best suited to their operations.

The powershift option offers direct and efficient power transfer during heavy draft work, while the CVT continuously adjusts speed and engine performance for smoother operation, easier driving, and improved fuel efficiency, especially during transport or precision applications.

The upgraded driveline, heavy-duty axles, reinforced three-point linkage, and robust drawbar setup all contribute to improved traction and more efficient power transfer during soil preparation work.

“In practice, this means the tractor can put more of its power to the ground while maintaining stability and reducing wheel slip under tough field conditions,” Du Preez added.

Hydraulic performance has also been strengthened considerably. The 328ℓ/minute MegaFlow hydraulic pump, combined with six remote valves, provides enough hydraulic capacity to comfortably operate large modern planters and implements with multiple hydraulic functions running simultaneously.

Inside the cab, the focus shifts towards operator comfort and precision farming integration. “Cab suspension is now standard across the range, helping to reduce fatigue during long working days by smoothing out bumps and vibrations in the field and on the road,” Du Preez said.

Operators also now have access to two IntelliView 12 touchscreen displays, giving them the ability to monitor guidance systems, tractor functions, implement settings, and precision farming applications simultaneously.

Du Preez said that compared with older single-screen systems, the dual-display setup makes it easier to manage increasingly complex operations without constantly switching between menus.

The lighting package includes up to 24 LED work lights that are brighter but use less power than conventional lighting systems. The lights provide a broad spread of clear white light around the tractor, dramatically improving visibility during nighttime operations and effectively turning night into day for operators working long hours during planting or harvesting.

Connectivity is another major focus of the upgraded range. Integrated telematics systems allow farmers and fleet managers to monitor machine performance, location, fuel usage, and operating efficiency in real time. Combined with the FieldOps database platform, operators can manage not only the tractor but also their broader fleet and farming data from a central system.

An added advantage, according to Du Preez, is that the FieldOps platform is free to use and can integrate equipment from across the farm, helping producers improve planning, machine utilisation, and decision-making without additional software costs.

The range still includes two models equipped with the rear SmartTrax track system. These tracks provide a larger footprint than conventional tyres, improving flotation and reducing compaction, particularly in sandy soils or wet conditions.

The improved traction also allows operators to transfer more power to the ground with less wheel slip, helping to maintain productivity when field conditions become challenging.
