All assets, employees, and the well-known Kynoch brand are included in the transaction. The resulting entity, to be named Kynoch Fertiliser, will have exclusive distribution rights to a selected range of premium Yara fertilisers.Schalk Lubbe, CEO of Farmsecure Technologies, said they are proud to be involved with Kynoch.

“We’re looking forward to serving South African farmers with world-class fertiliser products, combined with a local passion for agriculture.”In August, Farmsecure also invested in the Paarl-based Colors Group, South Africa’s second largest fruit exporter. At this stage the company hasn’t taken a controlling stake in Colors, but Lubbe said the partnership was a natural expansion of their fruit operations.

“We see Colors as a key client and strategic partner for the future and admire their position in the high-end fruit export market,” he explained.Lubbe said Farmsecure’s investments in the fruit and fertiliser companies are in keeping with their vision. “This will contribute to world food supply by creating profitable and sustainable farming enterprises whose produce is managed from ‘soil to shelf’,” he said.

Lubbe said it made sense to invest in the inputs industry, as the fruit sector is a major contributor to South Africa’s food supply and export market.
